Wednesday 18th April 6pm ‘Celebrating Unsuk Chin’
Melbourne Recital Centre
Metropolis New Music Festival 2018 celebrates Unsuk Chin, one of the leading composers of her generation. Born in South Korea and now based in Berlin, she was awarded the Grawemeyer Award in 2004, the Arnold Schönberg Prize in 2005 and the Music Composition Prize of the Prince Pierre Foundation in 2010. Her output includes operas, chamber music, symphonic works, and she has received notable acclaim for major works including Alice in Wonderland.
This chamber music concert features three solists – Peter de Jager (piano), Matthias Schack-Arnott (percussion) and Aviva Endean (bass clarinet) – and focusses on Chin’s chamber output – three dynamic, theatrical and thoroughly engaging works, perfectly suited to the intimacy of the Salon.
